An iced latte is easy to adjust at home: start with espresso, add cold milk and ice, then change the balance to suit your taste. This Coffee Pantry recipe makes one drink and works as a starting point for your own favorite combination.
Ingredients for one iced latte
- One Nespresso Vertuo Double Espresso capsule, or two Vertuo Espresso capsules
- About 4–6 fl oz cold milk or your preferred milk alternative
- Ice, enough to fill a large glass about halfway
- Optional: sweetener to taste
Use a compatible Vertuo machine and a glass with enough room for the coffee, milk and ice. Check the ingredients of your chosen milk and sweetener if you have dietary requirements.
Method
- Brew the coffee. Brew the capsule at its intended serving size into a separate heat-safe cup. If you use two Espresso capsules, brew each one separately.
- Add any sweetener. Stir it into the warm coffee so it mixes evenly.
- Prepare the glass. Add ice and 4 fl oz of cold milk to a large serving glass.
- Combine. Pour in the coffee, stir and taste. Add more milk if you prefer a gentler drink.
Adjust the balance
For a more noticeable coffee flavor, start with less milk. For a milkier latte, gradually add more. If the drink becomes watery, try more ice and avoid leaving the warm coffee sitting over it before serving. Keep the capsule's intended brew size rather than extending the brew to fill the glass.
