Nespresso Vertuo Pod Sizes Explained: Espresso, Double Espresso and Coffee

Shopping for Nespresso Vertuo pods starts with one question: how much coffee do you want in your cup? Brew size describes the amount of coffee a capsule is designed to make. It is separate from the number of capsules in a pack.

Four everyday Vertuo sizes

  • Espresso: 1.35 fl oz (40 ml). A short coffee to sip on its own or use as the base of a milk drink.
  • Double Espresso: 2.7 fl oz (80 ml). A larger espresso serving for a latte or a longer espresso moment.
  • Gran Lungo: about 5 fl oz (150 ml). A middle ground between a short espresso and a full mug.
  • Coffee: about 7.77 fl oz (230 ml). A mug-sized serving for a more leisurely cup.

Some Vertuo capsules make other sizes. Larger capsules can have machine-specific compatibility requirements, so check the capsule packaging and your machine manual before buying.

Choose for the drink you make most

If your morning routine is a small coffee followed by breakfast, start with the Espresso collection. For drinks with milk, browse Double Espresso. If you want a longer black coffee, compare Gran Lungo with Regular Coffee.

Pack size is a different number

A 50-count pack contains 50 capsules; it does not change the brew size of each capsule. Compare the capsule count, coffee name and serving size together. A larger pack can be practical once you know which coffee fits your routine.

Check your machine first

Vertuo and Original are different capsule systems. A Vertuo capsule is not a substitute for an Original capsule. If you are unsure which machine you own, check the model name before ordering.
